Wednesday 16th April saw our usual Team Training night, replaced with our first Call from GMCFS. During the day GMCFS had been dealing with many moorland fires, at one time up to 20 appliances had been deployed. As the evening started to draw in we were asked to contact many of the pumps in various moorland locations and report back with details of fires. One major problem which the GMCFS had was with communications, so using our Lo Band radio net we were able to provide comms for GMCFS. As the pumps were being stood down our need to be present became less, so after two hours we returned back to base.
