Late afternoon GMAS contacted the Team for urgent assistance with regards to a report of a child in the River Irwell at Ringley, Manchester. As Fire, Ambulance and Mountain Rescue were jointly responding it became known that the child was not actually in the river but was attempting to rescue a dog that was in the river, the Team was stood down shortly afterwards with a large number of Team members responding (For those wondering the dog was successfully rescued from the river.) a false alarm call with good intent.
