Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

The Team was contacted at 02:44 in the morning by Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service, and then 3 minutes later by Greater Manchester Ambulance Service, both regarding the same incident near Barrow Bridge, Bolton.

We were asked to respond to an incident involving 2 casualties, both of whom were thought to have sustained spinal injuries after falling into the river at Barrow Bridge.

Team members assisted the fire and ambulance officers with the evacuation of both of the casualties from the stream bed.

20 team members, in 4 team vehicles were present on scene (additional team members were stood down responding). Also in attendance were single fire appliances from Bolton Central, Bolton North, and Eccles. The fire service water rescue unit from Eccles attended as well as an emergency tender from Wigan. Greater Manchester Police divisional resources, and 2 ambulances from Bolton Ambulance Station also attended. Both teenage female casualties were taken to Royal Bolton Hospital.
