Greater Manchester Police contacted the team at 15:14, with regards to assisting in the urgent search for a missing man in the Elton Reservoir area of Bury. A Police search was underway involving Lancashire’s ASU helicopter (as the GMP helicopter was not available) and Divisional resources, under the guidance of a GMP (Missing Persons) Search Manager. The initial team response was will underway, including members on scene at the RVP, when news came in during the late afternoon that the man had been located unharmed by Police in the Radcliffe area, and we were stood down. (Given the large number of ponds, a canal, river and reservoirs in the night time likely search areas, our recently acquired lifejackets and fully revamped Dragon search lights would have been brought into use.)
