Held at GMP Bolton Divisional HQ and Police station on Crompton Way, Bolton, the open day showed off all the various elements that go together to form GMP. This included Police vehicle displays, a whole host of exhibitors associated with public safety and crime awareness, alongside tours of the Police station, and displays by the GMP Band and GMP Mounted Officers.
Of course the main attraction for the many children present was the chance to press endless buttons in Police vehicles to set off the Blue Lights and sirens.
Our vehicles were also on display alongside team kit and our full dislay stand, this particular event being the first public showing of our new Control Trailer.
We also had the sticky childrens finger syndrome, as children took great delight in turning on our sirens, blue lights and the vehicle public address systems. Great fun was had by all the kids, and of course it gave us a chance to talk about the team to their accompanying adults.
We collected £86.72 on the day, with our 2nd hand bookstall generating much interest.
We are also pleased to announce that the hosts of the Open Day, GMP themselves, from the proceeds of their tuck shop on the day and photo sales, have very kindly donated to the team £100. (a further £100 being equally kindly donated to Victim Support)
