Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

1st October 2005

As a continuation of similar training provided last year in-house by the team, we returned again to the working quarry complex above Edenfield, to provide team members with an opportunity to practise their off road Landrover driving techniques. Two Team Landrovers were utilised, with five team members under instruction from two more experienced team members.

The muddy quagmire at Scout Moor quarry – perfect!

Conditions were ideal, heavy overnight rain turning the quarry floor into a muddy quagmire, so much so that apparently more time was spent cleaning down both vehicles after the session then was spent off road driving ! The team expresses its thanks to Marshalls PLC, who once again kindly provided special permission for the team to practise within their working quarry area.

Practising hill-starts off-road can be a little more interesting than when on tarmac.
