Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

19th July 2008

At lunchtime today the team was contacted by the GMP Force Incident Manager requesting the teams assistance to evacuate an injured mountain biker taking part in the ’Hit the North’ 12 hour mountain bike race in the Ringley area of Kearsley.

The request was to assist the St. John Ambulance of Greater Manchester who were providing the standby cover for this event. They were dealing with an injured competitor who required our specialist evacuation skills from the incident location.

The 16 year old participant with a fractured leg was loaded on to one of the teams Bell stretchers and transported from a steep and muddy embankment to the awaiting SJAB Ambulance by team members, working alongside race marshalls and St John Ambulance members, including a doctor.

In total 10x Bolton MRT members were involved in this incident. This incident is another example of the close working relationship the team has with other voluntary First Aid services in the Bolton and Greater Manchester area.
