Jolly Crofters Fundraising Team

25th November 2008

This evening 7 Full Team Call out members visited Darwen Fire Station for a kit demonstration.

The first call of the evening was to the fire station canteen for a brew and biscuit. Whilst the lowly members of the team went out into the garage to lay out a selection of the team kit carried by our team Landrover Ambulances, team Chair Ken Oakes and Chris Greenhalgh (who is a fire fighter for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service, based at Broughton, who was interested in visiting to see the different operating practices between Greater Manchester and Lancashire Fire & Rescue Services) carried on drinking their brews whilst giving an overview of the work of the team to the gathered fire fighters on duty.

The fire fighters then joined the rest of the team members in the garages to view the team equipment, and where appropriate receive demonstrations. An information sharing exercise also took place where equipment carried by the team was compared to equipment carried by Lancashire Fire & Rescue appliances.

The team would like to thank all the staff on Blue Watch at Darwen Fire Station for the kind invite to the station and their hospitality during our visit.
