27th October 2010

The Bolton MRT alongside our colleagues in Oldham MRT and Rossendale and Pendle MRT work with GMFRS in regards to ’Structures and Vertical Line Rescue.’ (ie Tower Cranes, Pylons, buildings under construction)

Following our liaison visit to Red Watch GMFRS Leigh and Hindley on October 13th 2010 (See website illustrated news article) today our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE and Team Training Officer Elaine Gilliland, met up again with Red Watch, GMFRS, Leigh Fire Station, along with their Watch Commander Stephen Pattyson, to discuss a joint training activity based upon the scenerio of having to rescue injured or otherwise in capacitated operatives from the roof structure of the DW Stadium in Wigan.

As part of this we all visited the Stadium itself and inspected the venue with regards to holding this exercise, which is also likely to involve our colleagues in Oldham MRT and Rossendale and Pendle MRT all working together with GMFRS resources.

Subject to all necessary approvals it is at present envisaged that this exercise will take place on a Sunday in April 2011.
