On Sunday 12th May 2013, the team provided full standby rescue cover for the fell run section of the Darwen Leisure Centre Aquathon.
This event organised by Blackburn with Darwen Council, had as its fell run section a route from the Sunnyhurst Inn up onto Darwen Moor and return, with a race duration of circa one hour attracting 59x runners.
Thirteen of our team callout list members attended in all four of our Team Land Rover Mountain Rescue Ambulances.
The team at the time thanked long-term friend and supporter Matt Donnolley for inviting us to provide cover for this event.
Matt emailed our Team Leader Garry Rhodes MBE immediately after the event with the following very kind comment; “Please pass on my sincere thanks for the excellent turn out of your team today. I will be meeting with Darwen Leisure Centre management this week when a decision will be made regarding a donation to your organisation. Regards, Matt.”
Today we are very pleased to report the receipt of a kind £100.00 donation from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council in this regard.
