At 11:51 this morning the team were contacted by Greater Manchester Police to assist in a search in the Debdale Park area of Gorton. A 10 year old boy had been reported missing from his home at 6:30 in the morning, sparking a major police immediate search response.
A large number of the team were already at our Ladybridge Hall Base as part of our regular Sunday team area training and rope training exercises, so the team were able to send resources to the area immediately. In total 23 Bolton MRT full team member call out contacts responded to this incident (10 were stood down responding and 13 were stood down on scene)
Due to the location, terrain and large search area, additional resources from our colleagues from Oldham MRT and the trail dog with the Bowland Pennine MRT (who happened to be training at Bowland Pennines’ Smelt Mill base with the Welsh SARDA) were requested.
On reaching the RVP at Debdale park it was established that the child had been safely found and a stand down message was sent to all team members.
