Coincidental to a call to NWAS (Lancashire Area) being made by our Team Leader, he was informed of an incident at Wayoh Reservoir to which an emergency ambulance had been despatched and Helimed was also en-route.

In conversation with our Team Leader it was felt prudent to also mobilise the team in case of any problems with the ambulance or the air ambulance being able to access the casualty. With 15 team members already at our LBH base, an immediate response was initiated by our Team Leader (who also responded).

Three of our Landrover ambulances went mobile along with our Team Leader’s vehicle to this incident which involved the report of a female casualty having sustained a head injury in a fall in the Hob Lane area of Wayoh Reservior embankment footpath.

During this response the team received a pager call to attend an NWAS (Manchester) initiated call, which was answered by our Team Leader.

This resulted in the team having two concurrent incidents with our Team Leader diverting to this second call, along with our BM3 vehicle, leaving our BM1 and BM2 vehicles en-route to Wayoh, and our Deputy Leader Geoff Seddon taking command of this Wayoh incident.

As our first vehicle arrived on scene, we were stood down as the responding ambulance crew from Darwen ambulance station had in fact been able to access the casualty.

The North West Air Ambulance, Helimed 08, was also stood down as not required.

Our members at this incident were immediately redirected to incident 68/2008.
