Team members Richard Janicki, and our Fundraising Officer Mark Dooley, attended the early afternoon meeting of Manchester & District Keep Fit Association, at Radcliffe Civic Centre, to receive a donation. The ladies of the club last year decided to make us their Charity of the Year, and Mark and Richard gratefully received today on behalf of the team a fantastic cheque donation of £1000.
During their visit, team members found out that an incident that the team had been called to, on the 4th January 2003, which unfortunately had a sad outcome with the woman hillwalker involved, suffering a fatal cardiac arrest at Rivington, had a direct link to M&D K.F.A. in that the lady involved was a member of the keep fit group, and it was this that apparently gave the group the idea of nominating us their charity of the year.
