Organised by Horwich RMI Harriers and Athletics Club, and forming part of the Horwich Festival of Racing, this annual Fell Race takes in a course that commences in Horwich, ascends through Wilderswood and Wilders Moor onto Adam Hill and White Brow, thence to Two Lads summit and descends back into Horwich.
This evening in a mixture of light rain showers and sunny intervals, the race, commencing at 19:30 attracted a very large field of 119x runners, with all competitors completing the event.
As in previous years the Team was on hand to provide back up to the marshal’s at the various marshal’s points and to provide standby rescue cover in case of any incident.
In total thirty one team Call Out list members attended tonight, with all four of our Mountain Rescue Land Rover Ambulances present, our Minibus / Crewbus Ambulance and our brand new Incident Control Vehicle (On only its second operational deployment to a standby rescue cover event)
Two competitors were treated by team members present in our Minibus / Crewbus Ambulance, ‘BM5,’ at the event finish, for minor bruising and grazes.
Very kindly, the staff at the Norman Walsh Footwear (Specialist bespoke Fell Running Shoes) stand at the event start and finish, promised to contact the team shortly with a very thoughtful donation arising from their sales tonight, when they kindly pledged 10% of all sales income generated at this event to the Bolton MRT.
